Not content with raising the bar with the revolutionary sequential shift YXZ1000R, Yamaha has once again upped the ante with this all new Sport Shift Special Edition model of the game changing ROV.
This new model offers the driver even more control from the five speed box with paddle shifters and an advanced automatic clutch system that eliminates the need for the clutch pedal.
Now when you’re smashing through the bush you can keep both hands on the wheel – and when there are three cylinders pumping out torque-rich power from a 998cc mill, focusing on the rapidly approaching terrain is a huge bonus.
The SS SE model comes with all the features and benefits of the standard YXZ but adds even more trick suspension, beadlock rims and a hot matt black colour scheme.
YXZ1000R SS SE. Consider the bar raised.

Features Fed by triple fuel injectors with 41mm bodies, the free-breathing 4-valve cylinder heads run with a high 11.3:1 compression ratio that contributes significantly towards the YXZ's massive midrange torque and free-revving character. And with its vibration killing single-axis balancer, this torque-rich 3-cylinder engine is an exceptionally smooth runne
YXZ1000R SS SE’s paddle shift system is linked to the model’s chip controlled throttle (YCC-T) and does away with the manual clutch. It also allows for full throttle shifting. The new model also comes with a sophisticated launch system. Simply hold both paddles in, raise revs to 5000rpm, hit the pedal and release the levers and the YZX1000R SS SE will slingshot away from the line...
With the twist of a dial, On-Command 4WD gives the driver ultimate traction, with easily selected 2WD, 4WD and 4WD full Diff-Lock modes. The YXZ1000R’s all-new drivetrain incorporates and takes advantage of Yamaha's proven On-Command 4WD system with full Diff-Lock for challenging terrain.
An overhead protection system complete with a lightweight suntop is fitted as standard, and its rugged tubular structure has been developed to offer high levels of front and rear visibility for the driver and passenger.
Featuring huge piggyback reservoirs, the state of the art Fox 2.5 Podium X2 shocks not only shape the looks of this machine, they also enable it to conquer the most extreme terrain. Developed specifically and exclusively for the new Special Edition model, these shocks provide ultimate slow speed comfort without sacrificing performance during aggressive driving situations. A new level of performance and comfort are achieved by creating completely independent high and low speed compression and rebound adjustment, with additional features including dual adjusters on the upper cap and twin tube structure, dual springs with coupling and crossover adjustment, position sensitive damping, and more.
245mm diameter discs are fitted to all four wheels, and are gripped by 2-piston calipers for powerful and effective braking performance with plenty of feel, allowing the driver to brake later and harder.
To underline the YXZ1000R SS SE’s exclusive supersport specification, the model features aggressively styled 10-spoke alloy wheels with an optimised offset that gives steering agility together with high-speed stability. These lightweight wheels are fitted with Yamaha-exclusive 27-inch Bighorn 2.0 radial tyres that offer extreme performance as well as increased ground clearance.
The sporty cockpit-like cab in the YXZ1000R SS SE incorporates comfortable and convenient ergonomics, newly embroidered plush contoured high-back, cut-and-stitch seats, sliding adjustable driver’s seat, a soft grip over-mould, tilt adjustable steering wheel with 147mm of vertical travel, and uprated cabin insulation helping to keep the cabin cooler, even when the engine is working its hardest.
Providing detailed information to the driver, the YXZ1000R SS SE features a new hybrid digital-analog multifunction meter with digital speedometer, analog tachometer, programmable shift light, readouts for 4WD mode, gear position, fuel level, trip meters, hour meter, coolant temperature warning and a clock. A new Launch System activation and other indicator lights are also adopted.
